Jose "Wepa" Mitaynes
Born and Raised in Puerto Rico, where music and singing was just part of his culture. José Moved to Rochester NY as a young adult and from there he was introduce to what would make a path for his career. After winning his first talent show in high school, a counselor offered Jose his first Scholarship to Garth Fagan Dance School, where he trained in African, Caribbean and Ballet.
Under the guidance of Nydia Padilla, who runs Borinquen Dance Company. Jose was able to train and master the art of Bomba, Plena and Salsa on 1. Jose then moved to NYC to continue dance training under Anthony Rodriguez where Jose was introduced to House, Vogue, old school ,new way and performance,
Jose later began train with world renown Salsera, María Ramos who then introduce him to Salsa on 2.
David "Mr" Thomas in Hip Hop and Commercial Street Jazz.
Jose also had the pleasure of working with singer "Jidenna" on his Music video “Knickers” and with Freestyyle Music Icon ,Judy Torres on her off-Broadway one women show.
José was able to be a part of “In the Heights” the movie which premieres summer 2020. Jose is currently taking part of the immersive show Carmen to Havana and Back”. Jose it’s a firm believer with love, patience, and guidance one can make it all happen. One step at a time. One risk at a time, one leap at a time, despite all the obstacle found in the way.
